Sheev Palpatine

A native of Naboo who represented the planet in the Galactic Senate. Around the blockade of Naboo, he engineered a situation in which the previous chancellor was removed, while he himself took the highest office in the Republic and extended his emergency powers again and again.

In secret, he was the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious and simultaneously controlled both sides of the Clone Wars. He gave the order to eliminate the Jedi, won Anakin Skywalker over to his side, and announced the transformation of the Republic into the Empire, taking the title of Emperor.

He ruled by relying on military force and fear, and kept Darth Vader at his side. He died on the second Death Star when Vader threw him down the reactor shaft during an attempt to kill Luke Skywalker. Decades later, his influence manifested itself again in the affairs of the First Order and the Final Order.
