Trade Federation

A major trade organization of the Republic era in which the Neimoidians played the leading role. The Federation controlled a vast cargo fleet and its own armed forces, consisting mainly of battle droids, and secured representation in the Galactic Senate.

The organization's stronghold was the world of Cato Neimoidia, where its headquarters was located and where Neimoidian barons competed in wealth. The Federation was headed by Viceroy Nute Gunray, and its interests in the Senate were defended by Lott Dod.

On the instructions of Darth Sidious, the Federation blockaded Naboo and landed a droid army on the planet; the invasion was repelled. Later the organization joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and its droids made up a significant part of the Separatist forces. After the end of the Clone Wars the organization ceased to exist, and its assets passed to the Empire.
