Elzar Mann

Mann served on the frontiers of the Republic and took part in the rescue efforts in the Hetzal system after the Great Disaster, the destruction of a cargo ship whose debris rained down on inhabited worlds. Avar Kriss, who was tasked with finding the cause of the catastrophe, chose him as her assistant; as a result of this investigation, during which the Jedi dealt with the consequences of the disaster and pursued the Nihil raiders, Mann was made a Master.

After the defeat of the Nihil in the battle at Kur, he attended the opening of Starlight Beacon together with Kriss, Stellan Gios, and dozens of other Jedi. There he was struck by a vision of the future so grim that he withdrew from his friends, above all from Kriss.

A year after the Great Disaster, Mann was appointed Jedi Marshal of Valo, a frontier world hosting the Republic Fair, which was meant to persuade the planets of the Outer Rim to join the Republic. The vision came true: large Nihil forces fell upon Valo, hundreds of thousands died, and the expansion of the Republic was undermined. Mann later served on Starlight Beacon.
