Valo

Valo is a forested planet of the Valo system on the edge of the Rseik sector. The world was the homeworld of the sentient feathered Alcedians and, in the High Republic era, was part of the Galactic Republic; a Jedi temple operated on the planet.

Valo long remained a quiet backwater with a distinctive culture, until the Republic chose it as the site of a great fair. Preparations for the celebration brought an influx of investment to the planet and neighboring systems and revitalized shipping and tourism.

It was during those days that Valo was struck by a Nihil raid: the planet's capital, the city of Lonisa, was largely destroyed, and hundreds of thousands of people died. Jedi Master Elzar Mann, who was to head the local temple, never took up the post. Later the planet endured a period of enemy occupation.
