Debris from the lost ship emerged from hyperspace right next to inhabited worlds, and the Jedi averted disaster through tremendous effort.

Description

The cargo hauler Legacy Run, built by the Kaniff yards more than a century earlier, was carrying about nine thousand settlers from the Core to the Outer Rim. In hyperspace, on a well-established route, an obstacle suddenly appeared in front of it: a Nihil Stormship traveling along its own Path. Captain Hedda Casset nearly managed to steer the vessel away, but the worn hull was torn apart; the bridge crew died, having managed to seal the compartments. The debris scattered through hyperspace and began emerging into realspace. The triple Hetzal system, with forty billion inhabitants, took the main blow: an observation station was destroyed first, and Minister Zeffren Ecka announced an evacuation for which there were not enough ships. The distress signal was received by the cruiser Third Horizon under Admiral Pevel Kronara, which had been delayed at Starlight Beacon. More than a hundred Jedi took part in the rescue, their actions coordinated through the Force by Avar Kriss. The Padawan Burryaga sensed living beings inside one of the fragments, and the task became not to destroy the fragments but to intercept them. After the disaster, Chancellor Lina Soh closed the hyperspace routes.
