Geonosis

Geonosis is a rocky Outer Rim world with a thin, dusty atmosphere, reddish stone spires, and vast underground hives. Its native inhabitants, the Geonosians, live in strictly organized castes and are renowned as builders and weaponsmiths.

The planet was home to foundries producing battle droids, which made it one of the pillars of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Here the leaders of the Separatist organizations gathered and signed an agreement on joint action against the Republic.

An attempt to rescue prisoners sentenced to execution in the local arena grew into the first open battle of the Clone Wars, where the clone army was used for the first time. Later the Republic returned here to destroy the rebuilt factories; work on the battle station project is also connected with the planet.
