Corellia

Corellia is a planet of the system of the same name in the Core, one of the oldest settled worlds in the galaxy. Its inhabitants have long been distinguished by a penchant for long-distance travel, and the planet is associated with the establishment of early hyperspace routes and the expansion of settled space.

The backbone of the economy was the shipyards: ship hulls were assembled on huge slipways and in docks stretching along the coasts. Under the Empire production was converted to military needs, and working conditions in the shipyards deteriorated sharply.

The planet's largest city was Coronet, with its port districts and slums, where street gangs that used homeless children operated. From here came a pilot and smuggler who later gained renown in the Galactic Civil War.
