Warning: this entry reveals minor plot details.

Corellia's drive for independence split the Alliance, and the years of peace turned into a war of brother against brother.

Description

The war lasted from 40 to 41 ABY. It began as a confrontation between the Five Worlds of Corellia and the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, but the circle of opponents quickly widened: other systems joined the secessionists, forming the Confederation. The pretext for open hostilities was the collapse of negotiations at Toryaz Station, where Prime Minister Aidel Saxan was killed, after which the Alliance blockaded the Corellian system. The course of the war was determined not only by the front line. On Coruscant the Galactic Alliance Guard was created, headed by Jacen Solo, whose powers grew; together with Supreme Commander Cha Niathal, he ousted Chief of State Cal Omas and took his place. Later the Moff Council of the Imperial Remnant joined the Alliance, receiving Bilbringi and Borleias as payment. The outcome was decided not by the victory of one side but by the unification of former enemies against Solo, who had taken the name Darth Caedus. After his death at Uroro Station, the Jedi returned to the Alliance.
