Great Hyperspace Disaster
The breakup of a cargo ship in hyperspace showered entire systems with debris and forced the Republic and the Jedi to launch a rescue operation of unprecedented scale.
Description
The administration of Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh relied on expanding the presence of the Republic and the Jedi Order on the frontier: to this end, Starlight Beacon was built in the Outer Rim, and after its completion a conclave was held there with the participation of the Jedi Avar Kriss and Admiral Pevel Kronara. The guests' departure was delayed when, on a long-established hyperspace route, the freighter Legacy Run was wrecked after colliding with a Nihil vessel. Fragments of the ship burst out of hyperspace throughout the sector. Several moons of the Trymant system, including Korbatal, were destroyed, and the Hetzal system came under assault from a huge number of anomalies heading for its inhabited worlds. The Republic broadcast an evacuation signal, and the Jedi together with the fleet launched a large-scale rescue operation; Avar Kriss united the efforts of the Jedi, linking them through the Force, and Hetzal was saved. The danger did not end there: fragments of the Legacy Run continued to emerge from hyperspace at unpredictable points, giving rise to a series of so-called Emergences. Chancellor Soh banned hyperspace travel across vast areas of the Outer Rim and tasked a special group with containing the threat. Thus began the struggle of the Republic and the Jedi against the Nihil.
