Discovery of the hidden city

The expedition was prompted by the discovery in space of a damaged communications droid carrying a distress signal: Master Rok Buran's pathfinder team had been ambushed and had disappeared on the smog-shrouded planet Gloam. Jedi Knight Silandra Sho and her Padawan Rooper Nitani were sent to search for them. On arriving in the system, the Jedi found that communications were being jammed and descended to the neighboring world of Aubadas, where they met a member of the bat-like Katikoot people named Mittik. Having lost faith in the Republic's help after Master Buran's disappearance, she nevertheless agreed to guide the visitors to the underground city of Diurna, a center of advanced culture with its own technologies and glowing rivers that had previously been known only from rumors. The city turned out to be in decline: its prosperity depended on extracting energy resources on neighboring Gloam, and the mining had to be wound down because of the depletion of the deposits and the predators that lived there. The discovery of Diurna allowed the Republic to establish contact with the Katikoot but also exposed the dire situation of a world on the edge of settled space.
