Yoda

Yoda belonged to a little-known species and trained Jedi for more than eight centuries, holding the position of Grand Master of the Order and head of the High Council. He taught classes for younger students at the Temple on Coruscant and determined which of them would become Padawans; among others, he gave instruction to Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Luke Skywalker.

In the Clone Wars, Yoda took the rank of general in the Grand Army of the Republic and commanded troops, including in the first battle of Geonosis, where the Jedi first led clones into battle, and on Kashyyyk. Together with Mace Windu, he led the Order at a time when it was being drawn ever more deeply into military affairs.

After the execution of Order 66, Yoda returned to the ruined Temple, then fought Darth Sidious in the Senate chamber and, failing to defeat him, went into exile on the swamp planet Dagobah. There, years later, he took Luke Skywalker as a student, and after his death preserved himself in the Force and appeared to his student as a ghost.
