Description
Path of Deceit is a canon young adult novel written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on October 4, 2022. The book launched the second phase of the multimedia initiative Star Wars: The High Republic.
The story is set a century and a half before the events of the first phase, in an era of galactic exploration. The main setting is the planet Dalna, previously shown in the books of the first phase. The narrative is told from the perspectives of several characters: the Padawan Kevmo Zink, who has arrived to investigate the theft of a Force-related artifact, and followers of the Path of the Open Hand cult, who find the Jedi's use of the Force unacceptable.
The novel introduces the Path of the Open Hand cult, a key force in the second phase, and is connected to the novels Convergence and Cataclysm, as well as to comics of the same period.
