Death of Padawan Kevmo Zink in the Path of the Open Hand camp

Kevmo Zink was a Pantoran and the Padawan of Master Zallah Macri, under whom he had begun his training roughly two years before the events described. His companions knew him as sociable, energetic, and unable to stay in one place for long. While investigating the theft of a Force-related artifact from the planet Hynestia, master and apprentice traced the thieves to Dalna, home to a settlement of the Path of the Open Hand cult. There Zink met Marda Ro, an Evereni and a member of the community; a mutual attraction developed between them despite the irreconcilable differences between the views of the Jedi and those of the cult, which regarded using the Force as a crime. The young man died after coming into contact with a creature the cultists called the Leveler and kept hidden from outsiders: his body slowly turned to stone in Marda Ro's arms. The Padawan's death was the first evidence that the Path possessed a weapon lethal to the Force-sensitive, although the Order was not yet able to understand this at the time.
