Attack on the peace summit on Jedha

The signing of the treaty between Eiram and E'ronoh was scheduled to take place in an ancient temple converted for the purpose, the Second Spire of Jedha's Holy City; by special decision, the Republic entrusted security for the ceremony to the Guardians of the Whills. Morton San Tekka was appointed mediator, and the planets themselves, whose rulers had stayed home to rebuild their ravaged worlds, were represented by ambassadors Lian Serox and Tintak. Master Creighton Sun and Knight Aida Forte observed the negotiations. Both delegations arrived escorted by large fleets, which in itself heightened tensions on the peaceful moon. Meanwhile, the Path of the Open Hand was preparing to disrupt the ceremony: through intermediaries, the cult supplied weapons and droids to the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door, which carried out a series of bombings, while the Path's Herald stirred up unrest in the city, turning the crowd against the Jedi and the Force-sensitive. An explosion in the Second Spire and a well-timed attack finished the job: the forces of Eiram and E'ronoh each blamed the other and began fighting right in the streets of the Holy City. The peace that was believed to have been concluded collapsed.
