Description
The Mandalorian is a live-action space Western series developed by Lucasfilm. Jon Favreau served as its creator, writer, and executive producer. It premiered on November 12, 2019, launching the Disney+ streaming service, and became the first live-action television production in the Star Wars franchise.
The story takes place roughly five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and roughly twenty-five years before The Force Awakens, in an era when the Empire has fallen and the New Republic has not yet established order on the fringes of the galaxy. The protagonist is a lone bounty hunter from Mandalorian culture.
The episode directors include Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi. The series became the starting point for a whole group of related projects set in the same era, including The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.
