Mimban

Mimban, officially designated Circarpous V, is located in the Circarpous sector in the Expansion Region, on the Nanth'ri trade route. A dense ionized atmosphere keeps unbroken cloud cover and thunderstorms over the planet, and its swamps and rainforests are perpetually shrouded in fog. The world is inhabited by several sentient species, including the Mimbanese.

For a long time neighboring worlds considered the planet too wild to settle, but deposits of hyperbarides attracted mining companies here. In the first year of the Clone Wars the planet was occupied by forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and units of the Grand Army of the Republic armed and trained the Mimban Liberation Army, promising it freedom once the droids were driven out.

After the proclamation of the Empire, the same Imperial units returned to suppress their former allies and ensure uninterrupted mining. Predatory exploitation of the planet's resources wrecked its climate, turning its surface into one continuous expanse of mud.
