Search for the Kaiburr crystal on Mimban

While en route to a meeting on behalf of the Alliance, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa crash-landed on the swampy planet Mimban, also known as Circarpous V. The planet was considered uninhabited, but secret Imperial ore mining was under way there, and among the locals there was a legend of a temple holding the Kaiburr crystal, which strengthened one's connection to the Force. In a mining settlement, the companions met the old woman Halla, who was searching for the crystal, and were captured by the Imperial overseer, then escaped into the underground passages, where they won the support of the Coway tribe. The search led them to an ancient temple, where Darth Vader, who knew of the crystal's properties, also arrived. A duel took place in the temple: Leia managed to hold off the Dark Lord for a time, and then Skywalker, who had not yet completed his training, continued the fight and overcame his opponent, throwing him into a deep shaft. The crystal remained with the members of the expedition, and the Imperial mining operation on the planet was disrupted. The confrontation was Skywalker's first test against a Sith and confirmed that surviving relics of earlier eras remained significant to both sides of the war.
