Discovery of the clone army
An investigation led a Jedi to an ocean world where an army for the Republic was already being grown on an unknown party's order.
Description
The investigation began not with the army but with the attempt on the life of Senator Padmé Amidala. The assassin Zam Wesell was killed by a dart that could not be identified in the Order's archives; the dart's origin was determined by Dexter Jettster, an old acquaintance of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the owner of a diner, who pointed to the planet Kamino. Kamino itself was missing from the Temple archives: the records of the system had been erased, although the surrounding stars betrayed its presence through gravity. This meant that someone inside the Order had access to the archives. Arriving on the planet, Kenobi discovered that the Kaminoans had been growing an army for about ten years on an order placed, according to them, by the Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, who by that time had long been dead. Prime Minister Lama Su reported two hundred thousand units ready and twice that number in production. The template was the bounty hunter Jango Fett, who demanded, in addition to payment, an unaltered clone for himself. The client was never identified, but the Republic accepted the army and soon sent it into battle on Geonosis.
