An attempt on the senator's life on Coruscant leads to an investigation that uncovers preparations for war.
Description
Padmé Amidala, who represented Naboo in the Galactic Senate, led the opposition to the Military Creation Act, a bill that would have allowed the Republic to acquire its own armed forces amid the growing Separatist Crisis. This stance made the senator an obstacle for those pushing to arm the Republic as quickly as possible. An attempt to kill Amidala on Coruscant failed, and the Jedi Council assigned her protection to Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. While Skywalker secretly escorted the senator to Naboo, where she hid from further attempts on her life, Kenobi set out to find who had ordered the attack and followed the trail of the weapon used by the assassin. The search led the Jedi to a clone army secretly created for the Republic, and then to Geonosis, where the Confederacy's droid armies were being prepared. The enforced seclusion of Skywalker and Amidala on Naboo brought them closer and later led to their secret marriage, while the investigation itself turned into an open confrontation that began the Clone Wars.
