A Jedi and a senator married in defiance of the Order's code, keeping it hidden from everyone.

Description

Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala first met during the crisis on Naboo and did not see each other for ten years, yet his feelings for the senator did not fade. They were brought together again by the assignment to protect Amidala during the Separatist Crisis, and a confession made before their execution on Geonosis settled their relationship for good. After the battle on Geonosis, where Skywalker lost an arm that was replaced with a prosthetic, he returned with her to Naboo on the pretext of escorting the senator. The ceremony took place at a lake estate, and the only witnesses were the droids C-3PO and R2-D2. The wedding dress was sewn by Amidala's former handmaiden Yané, who did not know the groom's name, and the bride made her veil from family fabric. The marriage had to be kept secret: the position of a prominent senator and the Order's rules forbidding Jedi attachments made disclosure impossible. It was precisely this secret and the fear of losing his wife that later gave Darth Sidious leverage over Skywalker, as he promised him a power capable of saving Amidala from death.
