Battle of Dantooine
The Yuuzhan Vong caught up with a camp of refugees from Dubrillion and threw hordes of Chazrach slaves into battle. The Jedi discovered that these creatures were merely mindless executors of orders, and Luke Skywalker destroyed their controller, after which part of the enemy force scattered and the surviving refugees managed to escape. The planet remained in the invaders' hands.
Description
Two months after the clash at Helska IV, the New Republic's forces had to abandon Dubrillion, and the stream of refugees settled in camps on Dantooine. Cover was provided by Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, Lando Calrissian, and squadrons under the command of Colonel Gavin Darklighter; on the side of the Praetorite Vong, the operation was led by Commander Shedao Shai. The battle began after Leia Organa Solo and Mara Jade Skywalker discovered that Vong warriors had infiltrated the refugee camp disguised by ooglith masquers. Chazrach slaves, controlled from outside, were thrown into the offensive, and support from orbit was provided by a biological siege engine, a rakamat. The planet remained in the invaders' hands. About half of the camps' population died, along with more than fifty pilots and soldiers, including the bodyguard Bolpuhr; Rogue Squadron lost half of its strength, Wild Squadron lost three-quarters, and Stalwart Squadron was wiped out entirely.
