Description
The Truce at Bakura is a novel by Kathy Tyers, first published in hardcover by Bantam Spectra in November 1993. It is the fourth novel released by Bantam as part of its Star Wars book program; it followed Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy and continued the revival of the saga's book line that the trilogy had begun.
The story is set in 4 ABY and begins literally a few days after the ending of the film Return of the Jedi. The rebels intercept a distress signal from a distant Imperial frontier world, the planet Bakura, which is under attack by the alien Ssi-ruuk. Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo travel there, where they will have to negotiate with both the local population and the Imperial garrison.
The book belongs to the Expanded Universe and is now part of the Legends continuity. It is considered one of the first works to describe in detail the state of the galaxy immediately after Endor, and it introduced the Ssi-ruuk species and the planet Bakura, to which other authors later returned.
