The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime

Vector Prime is a novel by R. A. Salvatore, first published by Del Rey on October 5, 1999. The book belongs to Star Wars Legends and opens the large-scale multivolume cycle The New Jedi Order, which brought together works by several authors.

The story is set in 25 ABY, two decades after the events of the classic trilogy. The book marks the first appearance of the Yuuzhan Vong, invaders from beyond the galaxy, and the beginning of the war to which the entire cycle is devoted. The characters include Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa Solo, as well as a new generation of Jedi.

The novel is considered a turning point for the Expanded Universe: it set a darker tone for the narrative and launched the nineteen-volume series that concluded with the book The Unifying Force. The title refers to the region of the Outer Rim through which the invaders entered the galaxy.
