Description
Betrayal is a novel by Aaron Allston, first published by Del Rey in hardcover on May 30, 2006. The book belongs to Star Wars Legends and opens the nine-volume cycle Legacy of the Force, written by Aaron Allston, Karen Traviss, and Troy Denning.
The story takes place roughly several years after the events of the Dark Nest cycle, in an era when Luke Skywalker has already gathered the New Jedi Order into a unified community of knights. Peacetime proves fragile: the interests of individual planets undermine the harmony within the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, and Luke is troubled by visions of approaching darkness. Jacen Solo occupies a significant place in the narrative.
The first paperback edition of 2007 was supplemented with Karen Traviss's short stories “In His Image” and “Sword of Double Edge.” The cycle continues through the novel Invincible.
