Lothal

Lothal is an Outer Rim planet with vast grassy plains, low hills, and scattered rock outcroppings. Most of the population is concentrated in Capital City and small settlements, and the economy long rested on farming and small-scale trade.

With the arrival of the Empire, factories and shipyards were set up on the planet, and land was seized from the inhabitants for them; the discontent gave rise to one of the first organized cells of resistance, which operated from aboard a freighter. An ancient Jedi temple survived on Lothal, concealing access to a special dimension of the Force.

The Imperial command tightened its control over the planet and imposed a blockade, but the rebels managed to disable the production complex and force the Imperial forces to withdraw. The liberation of Lothal became one of the resistance's first successes on the scale of an entire world.
