Thrawn assigned to fight the rebels

Mitth'raw'nuruodo, known by the core name Thrawn, was a Chiss, an officer of the Chiss Ascendancy, who came from the Unknown Regions. His appearance in the known part of the galaxy was connected to a threat to his home state: the Ascendancy had come under pressure from the expansion of the Nikardun Destiny, behind which stood the Grysk Hegemony, and Thrawn set out to seek allies. During the Clone Wars he met the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and took part with him in an operation on Mokivj. He later entered service in the Imperial Navy and rose to the rank of grand admiral. His approach to war rested on the conviction that victory comes from understanding the enemy, so he studied the philosophy, art, and customs of those he fought, and from these signs predicted their decisions. The task of suppressing the rebellion was entrusted to him as a commander capable of unraveling a network of scattered cells. His first target was the rebel group “Phoenix,” and his actions against it led to a protracted campaign on Lothal.
