A planet of the Hosnian system that served as the capital of the New Republic and the seat of its Senate. It was destroyed by a shot from the First Order's superweapon along with the other bodies of the system.

Description
Hosnian Prime is a Core planet located on the Corellian Trade Spine. As far back as the High Republic era it was known for political intrigue, and its shipyards built ships for the Galactic Republic. In the later years of the Republic, a factory complex of the arms corporation Czerka operated on the planet, whose production relied on slave labor, including in deep mines.
By 28 ABY the planet served as the capital of the New Republic and the seat of its Senate. In 34 ABY, during the cold standoff with the First Order, which did not recognize the legitimacy of the New Republic, the system was struck from Starkiller Base. The superlaser destroyed Hosnian Prime and the other bodies of the system: the planet's core ignited, and it turned into a star.
