Warning: this entry reveals minor plot details.

An investigation into the murders of Jedi revealed that followers of the dark side had been operating in secret while the Order believed them gone.

Description

The investigation began with the murder of Master Indara on Ueda. Suspicion fell on Osha Aniseya, a former apprentice of Master Sol, but it soon emerged that the attacks were being carried out by her twin sister, Mae-ho, who had been thought dead. Mae's targets were the four Jedi who, many years earlier, had been on Brendok, where her mother's coven had perished: Indara, Torbin, Kelnacca, and Sol himself. On Olega, Torbin took poison from her hands, and on Khofar she found Kelnacca already dead. There it also emerged that she had a master who wielded the dark side. He slaughtered almost the entire team sent there, hiding his face behind a helmet of cortosis that shorted out lightsabers, and when the helmet cracked, he turned out to be the trader Qimir, who had been supplying Mae with equipment. He called himself nameless and said that the Jedi would call him a Sith. The Council, however, long held to the theory of a fallen Jedi rather than a revival of the Sith. After Sol's death, the investigation was taken over by Vernestra Rwoh, whose apprentice this dark adept had once been. Mae lost her memory and was placed under the Order's supervision, while the Senate began an inquiry into the Jedi themselves.
