Daegen Lok's vision in the Abyss beneath Anil Kesh

c. 25,800 BBYApproximate dateLast checked: 23 October 2026

Master Daegen Lok, together with Hawk Ryo, descended into the Abyss beneath the Anil Kesh temple and saw an army of dark warriors with blades of fire marching across Ska Gora.

Description

The descent into the Abyss was a consequence of the overconfidence brought by victory in the Despot War. The chasm in the surface of Tython beneath the Anil Kesh temple was notorious for driving mad those who went too deep, but the renowned master and his friend Hawk Ryo ignored the warnings. In the vision a dark host with blades of frozen fire marched across Ska Gora, led by someone with a single red eye; Lok and Ryo saw themselves at the head of Je'daii armies opposing this threat. Ryo refused to accept what he had seen and kept his sanity, but the vision deprived Lok of his reason and drew him toward the dark side. The Je'daii Council, having heard him at an interrogation, believed neither the prediction nor the warning and sent the master to Bogan until he renounced the vision and restored his balance. Lok spent seven years of exile in solitude, carving on the rocks an enormous image of himself with a blade of fire and many drawings of this weapon. No renunciation followed; later Xesh, who arrived on Bogan, recognized a forcesaber in the carvings, and together they set about making such a weapon.
