Nomi Sunrider, who has become an influential voice of the Jedi in the Republic, convenes the Order's first large gathering in a decade at Exis Station, where the artifacts saved after the destruction of Ossus had been moved. Hoggon secretly watches the gathering from a ventilation shaft and hears the Cathar Sylvar furiously denounce the exile Ulic Qel-Droma. This gathering marks the beginning of the rift in the Sunrider family's fortunes.

Description

Exis was neither a temple nor a fortress but an ion-mining complex in the Teedio system, where in 3,986 BBY Nomi Sunrider — by then a Jedi Master and the acknowledged leader of the Order — convened a conclave. Since the Great Sith War, the Order had been rebuilding its numbers and authority, and a gathering of this scale was being held for the first time in a decade. The most renowned Jedi of the era gathered at the station, including Master Thon; the Twi'lek Tott Doneeta arrived late. The discussions dragged on, and Vima Sunrider, who was present with her mother, grew bored: she left the main hall, took one of the ion-mining ships without permission, and nearly died after being caught in a magnetic loop near the star itself. She was saved by a pod and by Doneeta's ship, which arrived in time. The debates did not leave the past untouched: the Cathar Sylvar delivered an angry speech against Ulic Qel-Droma. It was this rebuke that prompted Vima to seek him out as a mentor — soon she secretly left the station, and the conclave turned into the beginning of her own path.
