Destruction of the pirate base on Gepparin
The Emperor's Hand Mara Jade infiltrated the base of the Bloodscar pirates on Gepparin. At the same time, Captain Kendal Ozzel and ISB Colonel Vak Somoril sent the Star Destroyer Reprisal there, intending to destroy the base along with Jade herself. The base was destroyed and almost all of the pirates were killed, but Caaldra, the gang leader's deputy, managed to escape.
Description
The Bloodscar pirates operated in the Shelsha sector with the connivance of some Imperial officials, and their base on Gepparin connected the gangs with their patrons. An investigation conducted by the Emperor's Hand Mara Jade brought her there posing as a representative of a gang seeking an alliance; the Imperial Security Bureau agents accompanying her had secret orders to kill her in order to conceal information about the deserters from the Star Destroyer Reprisal. At the base, Jade met with the gang's leader and his aide Caaldra, was forced to eliminate the agents assigned to her, and engaged the leader's men in combat. In the middle of the fight, the base came under orbital bombardment: Captain Kendal Ozzel brought in the Reprisal after receiving a tip from Colonel Vak Somoril, who hoped thereby to eliminate Jade under the guise of a routine combat operation. The bombardment destroyed the pirate nest, but the leader and Caaldra managed to escape, and Jade survived. In the base's surviving records, both the rebels and the deserters found a reference to Shelkonwa, which brought both sides to that planet and continued the investigation into the conspiracy in the sector.
