Battle for Poln Major
The warlord Nuso Esva abducted the family of Candoras sector governor Bidor Ferrouz and forced him to offer the Alliance a base in order to lure Captain Thrawn into the Poln system and frame him. The Hand of Judgment squad repelled three attacks by Esva's forces, and Mara Jade freed the governor's wife and daughter and decided not to accuse him of treason.
Description
The warlord Nuso Esva was waging his own struggle against the Empire and sought to destroy the career of Senior Captain Thrawn by luring him into a trap in the Poln system. Part of the plan was the abduction of the wife and daughter of Bidor Ferrouz, governor of the Candoras sector: under threat of their deaths, he entered into negotiations with the Alliance and offered the rebels a base, leaving equipment on Poln Minor. The Emperor learned of the betrayal, and his Hand, Mara Jade, arrived on Poln Major to execute Ferrouz. At the same time, a unit of deserter stormtroopers, the Hand of Judgment, was operating in the city, as were rebels who had come at the governor's invitation, among them Luke Skywalker. Unrest broke out in the governor's palace, a rumor spread that the governor had been killed by a Jedi, and Nuso Esva's troops attacked the deserters holed up in the basement three times. All three assaults were repelled, after which Mara Jade located and freed the governor's family, and the Troukree, allies of the deserters, routed the enemy's last units. Jade decided to let Ferrouz live, Nuso Esva's plan failed, and the rebels left the planet before Imperial forces could stop them.
