Death of Kento Marek and the emergence of the secret apprentice
Vader arrives on Kashyyyk on the trail of a Jedi protecting the Wookiees and kills Kento Marek. Discovering that the dead man's young son is unusually strong, the Dark Lord kills his own subordinates, takes the boy, and secretly raises him behind the Emperor's back as an apprentice under the name Starkiller.
Description
Kento Marek and Mallie Marek were Jedi Knights; after the Clone Wars, they hid on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, where their son Galen was born. The mother died earlier, and the planet soon became the target of Imperial operations to exterminate the surviving Jedi, and Darth Vader set out on the fugitive's trail. Vader found Marek's refuge and killed him in a lightsaber duel. During the fight, he sensed nearby a presence stronger than that of the Jedi himself and discovered the boy. So that no one, including the Emperor, would learn of the discovery, the Dark Lord eliminated his own subordinates who had witnessed it and took the child with him. The boy was raised in secret under the code name Starkiller; over time, he forgot both his home and his own name. The Rule of Two did not allow him to be considered a true Sith while Vader himself remained the Emperor's apprentice, so he was used as a covert agent — above all to eliminate surviving Jedi and undesirable figures within the Empire itself.
