Corellian Treaty and the Imperial trap

For a long time, resistance to the Empire remained a collection of unconnected groups. Garm Bel Iblis brought the Corellian units under a single command and invited to Corellia Bail Organa of Alderaan and Mon Mothma of Chandrila, who had previously discussed the possibility of taking action at closed meetings at Cantham House. The new negotiations proved more successful than the earlier ones. The three signed a treaty establishing common goals and a governing structure: civilian matters — diplomacy, transport, and supply — were combined into one branch, military operations into another, and a commander in chief and an advisory council were placed at the head. Organa undertook to finance the movement, Bel Iblis to provide ships, and Mon Mothma to provide people. Bringing all three together in one place was made possible by Galen Marek, whom they believed to be a Jedi. No sooner had the treaty been declared adopted than stormtroopers seized the building: the meeting had been a setup. Marek had acted on Darth Vader's instructions, whose plan was to expose and decapitate the future Alliance before it became dangerous. The senators were taken into custody, and his master betrayed the agent himself a second time, discarding him like a used-up tool.
