Battle of Takodana

The battle took place immediately after the destruction of the planets of the Hosnian system and became the first open clash between the Resistance and the First Order. It was prompted by the discovery of the droid BB-8, which held part of a map to the location of Luke Skywalker: the fugitives took refuge in Maz Kanata's castle on the planet Takodana in the Mid Rim. The First Order struck with starfighters and troop transports, leveling the castle and killing many of its occupants. The droid fled into the forest after Rey, and stormtroopers began combing the woods. Meanwhile, in the ruins, the former stormtrooper Finn fought a trooper in riot-control gear and survived only thanks to Han Solo's intervention. The outcome was decided by the arrival of eleven starfighters led by Poe Dameron, which routed the enemy's ground forces and aircraft. The First Order withdrew, taking the captured Rey with them, but failed to achieve its goal: the droid with the map remained with the Resistance.
