Tobias Beckett

Beckett was born on the planet Glee Anselm and was not only a thief but also a gunslinger. Around 13 BBY he clashed with the bounty hunter Aurra Sing and pushed her down, which he later recalled in a conversation with Lando Calrissian. His crew worked for the Crimson Dawn syndicate: together with his beloved Val and the four-armed pilot Rio Durant, he took cargo on Cato Neimoidia and Hovun IV, and among the loot was a journal known as the Smuggler's Guide.

The failed attempt to steal Imperial coaxium on Vandor cost Val and Durant their lives, but brought Han Solo and Chewbacca into the crew. Having taken Solo on as an apprentice, Beckett obtained the needed raw material on Kessel.

When Solo decided to hand the hypermatter over to the Cloud-Riders instead of the syndicate, Beckett betrayed him first. The showdown came on Savareen: in a standoff between the two, Solo shot his mentor and killed him. Solo remembered Beckett's lessons and betrayal many years later.
