Poe Dameron

Dameron was the son of Lieutenant Shara Bey and Sergeant Kes Dameron, who had served the Alliance. At first he belonged to the Spice Runners of Kijimi; he then followed in his mother's footsteps and became a New Republic pilot, commanding Rapier Squadron. Disillusioned by the Republic's inaction in the face of the First Order's violations of the Galactic Concordance, he went over to the Resistance, where he flew under the call sign Black Leader in the starfighter Black One.

On Jakku he was captured by the First Order and interrogated about the map, but he escaped with the help of a defecting stormtrooper whom he named Finn. In the battle at Starkiller Base, it was his shots that destroyed the superweapon. Later he was demoted for an unauthorized attack on the dreadnought Fulminatrix, and he then led a mutiny against Vice Admiral Holdo, whose plan he had failed to understand, which cost the Resistance many transports.

After Holdo's death, General Organa entrusted him with command, and he led the survivors out of Crait. In the war with the First Order, Dameron rose to acting general of the Resistance.
