Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Freedon Nadd Uprising

Description

The second arc of the Tales of the Jedi cycle, published by Dark Horse Comics in 1994 in just two issues, making it the shortest part of the cycle. It was written by Tom Veitch, with art by Tony Akins and Denis Rodier. The arc continues the events of the first miniseries and is set in the same period, roughly four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin.

The story unfolds on Onderon and its moon Dxun, to which it has been decided to move the sarcophagi of long-dead rulers tied to the legacy of the dark adept Freedon Nadd. The decision provokes resistance from the Naddist cult, and the conflict draws in Jedi led by Master Arca Jeth, as well as a group arriving from Ossus headed by Nomi Sunrider. In parallel, the arc introduces a storyline about the heirs of the royal house of the Empress Teta system, Satal and Aleema Keto, who are interested in dark knowledge.

Within the cycle, this arc serves as a connecting link: it escalates the local confrontation on Onderon to the scale of a Republic-wide crisis and lays the groundwork for Dark Lords of the Sith and The Sith War.
