Description
The third arc of the Tales of the Jedi cycle, published by Dark Horse Comics in six issues in 1994–1995. It was written by Kevin J. Anderson and Tom Veitch, with art by Chris Gossett and Art Wetherell. The story is set a couple of years after the previous arcs and continues the story of Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider.
The comic develops two intertwined storylines. The first is the confrontation between the Jedi and the dark Krath cult, which has seized power in the Empress Teta system; the second is the story of Exar Kun, an ambitious Padawan who sets out in search of lost Sith knowledge on Korriban and Yavin 4. It is here that Exar Kun first appears in the Expanded Universe and receives the title that gives the series its name.
The arc is considered pivotal for the Old Republic era in Legends: it shapes the image of the Sith tradition as a legacy passed down through artifacts and tombs, introduces the motif of a Jedi falling from within the Order, and leads directly into the events of The Sith War.
