Description
Andor is an American live-action series from Lucasfilm released on the Disney+ streaming service. The project was created by Tony Gilroy and is styled as a spy thriller; the lead role is played by Diego Luna, who returned to the character of Cassian Andor from the 2016 film Rogue One. The first season debuted in September 2022, and the second on April 22, 2025.
The story is set during the period when the Galactic Empire is consolidating its power and precedes the events of Rogue One. The series shows how scattered discontent grows into organized resistance, and it devotes attention not only to the rebels but also to the Imperial bureaucracy and security service.
Andor stands out noticeably from the franchise's other television productions for its grounded, socially realistic tone: there are almost no Jedi or Force in it, and the conflict is shown through the lives of ordinary inhabitants of the galaxy. It serves as a direct prequel to Rogue One and, through it, to the original trilogy.
