Description
A computer role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts. The Xbox version was released on July 16, 2003, and the Windows version on November 19 of the same year; Aspyr later produced ports for Mac OS X, mobile platforms, and the Nintendo Switch. The game was directed by Casey Hudson, with James Ohlen as lead designer, Drew Karpyshyn as writer, and music by Jeremy Soule. The game is built on the Odyssey Engine and the rules of the d20 tabletop system.
The story is set roughly four thousand years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, in the era of the Old Republic, shortly after the Mandalorian Wars. The player creates a character of one of three classes, travels to planets across the galaxy, and, through pausable turn-based combat and dialogue, accumulates light side or dark side points that determine the available abilities and the course of the story.
The game was widely acclaimed for its writing and companions and is considered one of the most important works in the franchise; its material became the basis for an entire branch of Legends, including comics and sequels.
