Darth Plagueis

Darth Plagueis is a novel by James Luceno devoted to the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Plagueis. The book's publication was originally planned for 2008, was canceled, and then revived: the novel came out on January 10, 2012. The audio version was read by Daniel Davis.

The narrative spans several decades and belongs to the period preceding The Phantom Menace. Luceno described working on the book as akin to writing a historical novel: the plot is built around the figures of master and apprentice, Plagueis and Darth Sidious, their views on power and on the centuries-old tradition of the Sith, and around the behind-the-scenes side of events known from the films.

The novel belongs to the Expanded Universe and the Legends continuity. The character himself is known to viewers from a brief mention in Revenge of the Sith, and for a long time the book remained the only extended work about him. Darth Plagueis is thematically related to Luceno's other novels about the Sith and the era of the Empire's rise.
