Kuat

A Core planet in the Kuat system, the homeworld of the Kuati people. It is a world of clouds, water, and land, an industrial center ruled by a hereditary aristocracy.

The planet's equator is encircled by a one-of-a-kind artificial ring, the shipyards of the Kuat Drive Yards corporation. From the outside it looks like a gigantic scaffolding in space, supplemented by habitation modules and machinery; inside the structures stand the hulls of ships under construction. At the same time, the habitable area of the ring does not exceed three hundred thousand square kilometers.

The shipyards produced warships for both the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Empire, remaining the main source of Imperial Star Destroyers. Because of this importance, the planet's defenses were considered almost impregnable: the ground garrison was supplemented by a large Imperial fleet, and most of the defenses were designed for combat in space. In the distant past, Kuat was invaded by the Rakata.
