Hundreds of worlds were left behind the Stormwall: communications were cut off, and help could not get through.

Description

The fall of Starlight Beacon deprived the Republic of its foothold on the frontier and undermined its ability to respond to raids. Taking advantage of this, the Eye of the Nihil, Marchion Ro, spread stormseeds, devices developed by Chancey Yarrow, across the captured sectors and built from them the Stormwall, which walled off ten sectors of the Galactic Frontier in the Outer Rim. This area became known as the Occlusion Zone, and the Nihil themselves called it the liberated worlds. Inside the barrier, communications and hyperspace travel were cut off: ships that tried to enter disappeared or were destroyed, and hundreds of worlds were left alone with the raiders, their exactions, and the Nameless. Some Jedi, including Avar Kriss and Porter Engle, were trapped inside and helped the local inhabitants while concealing their membership in the Order. Outside, the Republic and the Jedi searched for a way to break through the wall, but it restored itself. In response to an assault on the barrier, Ro expanded the zone, absorbing two more sectors and cutting through the Seswenna sector almost as far as Eriadu, and later, after Avar Kriss's escape, he extended the border many times and with no apparent pattern, seizing most of the Chommell sector along with Naboo. At its peak the zone encompassed about a tenth of Republic space and ceased to exist only after the Nihil surrendered at the Battle of Eriadu.
