Expansion of the Stormwall

The Stormwall was created by the Nihil leader Marchion Ro with the help of so-called stormseeds, devices developed by Chancey Yarrow. The barrier walled off a vast portion of the Outer Rim that became known as the Occlusion Zone: neither ships in hyperspace nor communications signals passed through it, and the very first time it was used, it destroyed an entire fleet of the Republic Defense Coalition. The cut-off systems found themselves entirely at the mercy of the raiders, and the Republic lost the ability not only to help them but even to learn their fate. By pushing the barrier's boundaries outward, the Nihil incorporated ever more inhabited worlds into their domain, and the territory inaccessible to Republic forces and the Jedi kept growing. Breakthroughs beyond the wall had to be made alone and in small groups, acting blindly. The barrier held for about two years and fell for good only when Ro destroyed his own flagship, the Gaze Electric, which powered the entire system.
