Creation of the Inquisitor service

The execution of the order to destroy the Jedi wiped out most members of the Order, but some survived and scattered across the galaxy. Regular troops were poorly suited to hunting them down: the survivors wielded the Force, knew how to hide, and enjoyed the sympathy of the local population. A service was needed that could track down Force-sensitives by their own means. The Inquisitorius was created according to the Emperor's design and placed under Darth Vader. Its members were recruited mainly from former Jedi who had been captured and turned to the dark side through threats, torture, and promises; they were armed with folding lightsabers with a spinning ring, also adapted for flight. Inquisitors bore not names but numbered designations and competed for their master's favor. The service put the hunt for Jedi on an industrial footing: the Inquisitors interrogated witnesses, searched for Force-sensitive children, and hunted down survivors on the fringes. Their appearance made the existence of Jedi in hiding considerably more dangerous and for a long time deprived the resistance of the possibility of relying on Force-sensitive mentors.
