Battle of Gall
Learning from the mercenary Dash Rendar that Boba Fett's ship Slave I had put in for repairs at Gall, the rebels tried to recover the frozen Han Solo. Rogue Squadron under Luke Skywalker had to tie up the Imperial fighters while Rendar, Calrissian, and Organa fought their way to Fett's ship. Fett escaped, and the battle ended in a draw.
Description
The rebels received word from the mercenary Dash Rendar that Boba Fett's ship Slave I, carrying the frozen Han Solo, had stopped for repairs at the moon Gall, and passed it on to Lando Calrissian, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa. The task was complicated by the Imperial enclave at Gall, which was protected by two Star Destroyers. The plan was simple and risky: thirteen fighters of Rogue Squadron were to tie up the fighter screen while Rendar, in the Outrider, guided the Millennium Falcon with Calrissian and Organa through the Great Chasm to the spaceport. The Rogues took losses but accomplished their task; the Falcon broke through, after which Rendar, who considered himself hired only as a guide, left the rebels. He made his own way to the enclave, located Fett's berth in the computer system, fought his way to the tower, and disabled Slave I in an aerial battle. The plan failed: an Imperial transport picked up Fett along with the carbonite slab and delivered them to Jabba on Tatooine. The rebels withdrew, having lost several pilots, and the search for Solo had to continue elsewhere.
