Evacuation of D'Qar and destruction of the Fulminatrix

Mandator IV-class dreadnoughts were twice the length of Resurgent-class Star Destroyers and carried two orbital bombardment cannons designed to penetrate planetary shields. Resistance pilots called such ships fleet killers, and the appearance of one of them over D'Qar meant that the base could not be held. The dreadnought's schematics had reached the Resistance in advance, and Poe Dameron had the opportunity to study its weak points. While the transports were leaving the planet, he broke through beneath the line of fire and destroyed the turbolaser emplacements on the hull of the Fulminatrix, depriving the ship of its close-in defense. Captain Moden Canady launched fighters to meet the attack, and almost the entire bomber squadron was destroyed. The surviving ship dropped its bombs, and the dreadnought was destroyed with its entire crew. The base on the surface was destroyed by orbital fire after the evacuation, and the wreckage of the Fulminatrix was later searched for fuel.
