Second Battle of Geonosis

The reason for the return to Geonosis was information obtained by Senator Padmé Amidala. The Jedi Council suspected Senator Rush Clovis of ties to the Confederacy; while accompanying him to Cato Neimoidia, Amidala discovered that together with Lott Dod and Archduke Poggle the Lesser he was investing in the construction of the largest droid factory. Poisoned by the conspirators, the senator nevertheless managed to steal a holographic recording with data on the facility. To take the planet, the Republic assembled large forces under Generals Ki-Adi-Mundi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luminara Unduli, and Anakin Skywalker. The plan called for a strike from three directions at the shield generator protecting the factory and the capture of Poggle. The landing at Point Rain resulted in heavy losses: the Geonosians were ready for the attack, landing ships were shot down, and some of the equipment was destroyed while still in the air. The battle, lasting several days, ended with the destruction of the droid factory, but the price was high, and the subsequent search for the Archduke in the catacombs brought the Jedi further losses.
