Description
Qui-Gon Jinn trained under Master Dooku and himself raised the Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi. He adhered to the living Force, an immediate response to what is happening here and now, and for that reason repeatedly disregarded the directives of the High Council, which is why he never received a seat on the Council.
In 32 BBY he and his apprentice were sent to negotiate with the Trade Federation, which was blockading Naboo. The mission turned into an invasion: the Jedi made their way onto the planet, spirited away Queen Amidala, and, because of damage to their ship, ended up on Tatooine, where Jinn met the slave Anakin Skywalker. Convinced that the boy was the Chosen One of prophecy, he secured his freedom and pressed the Council to train him despite its refusal.
In the battle for Naboo, Jinn fought the Sith Darth Maul and was mortally wounded. As he lay dying, he made Kenobi promise to train Anakin. It later emerged that he was the first Jedi of his time to discover the means of preserving consciousness after death, and that he passed this knowledge on to others.
